A demographic is a certain characteristic of a population that is measured & analyzed with the intent to study trends and/or to make decisions.

Such characteristics include gender, age, income, marital status, religious affiliation & ethnicity.

There are countless combinations of market demographics upon which organizations base their marketing campaigns. Some examples include:

1. Women between the ages of 24 & 30 who have graduated college.
2. Retired people between the ages of 65 & 85 who have been diagnosed with diabetes.
