A link tag that tells search engines not to count the link when calculating the ranking of the destination web page.

For example, a food blog mentions other food-related websites as references & links them. Now, if these links are NoFollow links, they won’t be counted as official backlinks for the other websites. But they can still redirect traffic to the other websites & might impact the websites’ rankings in other ways.
